What you will be doing

As a Programme Associate at DAG, you will be at the heart of our project management, ensuring our initiatives run smoothly and align with donor and organisational standards. Your role is multifaceted, providing vital support across project administration, programming, and financial tasks. Here’s a snapshot of your key responsibilities:

Key responsibilities

Projects
• Participate in project planning and activities, including assistance in meetings and travel where necessary;
• Take meeting notes and support project management in follow-up tasks;
• Provide logistical support for travel and meetings for project staff and consultants (including visas, translators, flights, fixers, drivers, accommodation, meeting venues, etc.);
• Understand when project support is needed and proactively manage tasks;
• Maintain external communication on behalf of senior staff as instructed, including emailing, phone calls, etc.;
• In coordination with other DAG staff, prepare proposals, narrative reports and other reporting documents for funders;
• In coordination with project staff, draft concept notes, non-papers and other project documents;
• Monitor press and developments, and provide project staff with context development updates;
• Understand the project context, including history, politics, culture and legal structure, and proactively work to deepen knowledge;
• Develop strategic thinking with regard to project activities.
Financial
• Review and monitor grant requirements, and remind project staff of deadlines and contracted project activities;
• Submit project-related invoices;
• Maintain an understanding of the project budget, and contribute with project-specific information for financial reporting where necessary.
Organisational
• Contribute to DAG’s organisational development as outlined in strategy meetings, staff meetings and other guiding documents;
• Assist in fundraising efforts, including in identifying potential funders;
• Assist with office management tasks as requested.
Representation
• Represent DAG through participation in external events such as conferences, seminars and meetings, as agreed with senior staff;
• Participate in DAG’s external events;
• Contribute to the expansion of DAG’s network, as agreed with senior staff.

About you

  • An advanced university degree or equivalent in the field of Conflict Studies, International Relations, Middle Eastern Studies, Social or Political Science, and other relevant fields;

  • One to two years of professional experience in the development and humanitarian field and/or project administration;

  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage and oversee multiple projects simultaneously;

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with fluency in English, both speaking and writing;

  • Work-level proficiency in Arabic (minimum B2 level);

  • Additional language proficiency, such as French, Dutch, or Spanish, is an advantage;

  • This role requires that you already possess the legal right to live and work in the Netherlands;

  • Demonstrated commitment to conflict resolution and peace-building.
