Senior Finance and Administration Manager
Are you the financial backbone a peacebuilding organisation needs?
The Dialogue Advisory Group (DAG) works in some of the world's most complex conflict environments. Behind that work is a small, dedicated team in Amsterdam - and right now, that team needs a senior finance and administration professional who can keep the organisation on solid ground.
This is not a role for someone who wants to specialise narrowly. You will own the full financial picture - from grant budgets and donor reports to audit, payroll, and year-end closure - while also overseeing administrative operations and managing a small team. It is a broad role, and we are open about that. If you thrive as a generalist in a mission-driven environment, this is exactly the kind of position that will suit you.
What the role looks like in practice
You will be DAG’s primary financial authority, reporting to the senior management team. Day to day, that means:
Managing the full financial cycle: budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, reporting and year-end closure.
Leading grant and project finance, including donor reporting and compliance across a portfolio of international donors.
Overseeing audit processes and ensuring compliance with Dutch accounting standards and statutory requirements.
Translating financial data into clear management information for the Director and senior team.
Managing a Finance and Administration Officer and a Junior Finance and Administration Officer.
Keeping administrative operations running smoothly: suppliers, contracts, HR administration, and GDPR compliance.
What we are looking for
You have at least five years of financial management experience in an NGO, international organisation, or relevant government body.
You know your way around donor-funded project finance - building budgets, monitoring expenditure, preparing financial reports - and you are familiar with the Dutch regulatory environment: Dutch accounting standards, payroll tax, and employment law.
You are an experienced finance professional who sees finance as enabling DAG's work, bringing strategic thinking and adaptability to a small, mission-driven organisation.
You work confidently in Exact Online or a comparable system, and you communicate financial complexity clearly to colleagues without a finance background.
You are fluent in English and preferably can work in Dutch as well.
Most importantly, you are someone who takes ownership, spots problems early, and gets things done without needing close direction.
You are ready to work in person in an office in Amsterdam.
What we offer
A position of responsibility in a dynamic, international and fun team.
A one-year starting contract, renewable on the basis of performance and organisational needs.
A competitive salary of € 7.458 (negotiable, based on experience and responsibility), in line with industry standards.
Additional benefits including: 20 days of annual holidays plus two weeks over Christmas; an 8% holiday allowance; a personal development budget; reimbursement for travel to work within the Netherlands; and participation in a pension scheme.
